A podcast about faith, work, theology, and economics

April 28, 2017
Ergasia is the creation of Rev. Brendan Byrne. Before becoming an ordained Minister of the Uniting Church in Australia, he worked variously as a securities officer with a major Australian financial institution, as an official with both blue and white collar trade unions, and as a console operator working night and graveyard shifts at a chain of convenience stores. As a Minister he is interested in the intersection between the world and reality of work and the life of faith; with the critique of economics offered by theology and Scripture; and with asserting the dignity of the human worker over against the prerogatives of profit and efficiency.  He is also concerned with correcting what he regards as the church's withdrawal from the world of work, with re-connecting Christians with their history of advocacy and activism with respect to human dignity in employment, and thereby with reactivating the realm of work as a legitimate sphere of Christian mission and witness. Brendan Byrne lives and works in Melbourne, Australia; he is married and has a daughter.
